What Wix Does for Me - COMM 401

Wix allows me to have a professional self-branded website to showcase both my professional and scholastic endeavors. The site contains thousands of design options to choose and represent my personal brand online. For highlighting work I am doing at ODU, I have focused on the Blog section as the main area of concentration. In addition, I have just added a “Course Projects” section to cover COMM 401 assignments.

As far as enhancements to my professional presence online, I think my Wix site is well-established and represents me and my capabilities. One of the ways I think I can improve the prominence of my site online is through search engine optimization (SEO). This is one of the main benefits of Wix. SEO is a process of improving the ranking and visibility of a website in the search engines. Through a Wix site, I can increase my chances of someone finding my site when they search my name and learning more about me in a controlled form vs. social media sites. The SEO portion of my site is what needs the most attention at this time. By optimizing each page and section I can ensure the search engines index content I want them to catalog and potential employers find it.

At this stage of my Wix.com site, my main questions are surrounding the use of design elements I have selected and obtaining feedback on my site. I have not shared my site outside of the classroom settings with anyone other than my mom. Of course she liked it… But I am very curious what others in my industry think and I am open to constructive feedback.
