My First Blog

Hello world! This is my maiden voyage into blogging and my first portfolio website. Thank goodness for technology, because it was so easy to set up. The various design templates that other people have created are extremely useful to getting started. I really liked being able to choose an existing model to edit and customize to be all about me. By utilizing these site guides it did not take very long to drop my personal information into the website. Without these options I would have spent a lot more time to get my site up and running.

What was difficult were formatting the sections once I started to build out each area with content. I found that the style of the page would shift a little bit here and there if I went over the ideal copy length. I am a stickler for symmetrical page layouts and this was challenging for me to get the page looking exactly the way I wanted it. Maybe it’s my attention to detail, but I want my site to be as close to my version of perfect as possible. I could see many hours being lost in tweaking images, colors and fonts.

Overall I like the Wix page now and think it can bolster my professional brand online. Currently I use a LinkedIn page as my only professional site to let potential employers learn about me. I like that I can customize this Wix page to represent me as a unique individual over the LinkedIn standard look and feel. Wix allows me to stand apart from competitors in the field. Once the class is completed I plan to continue to expand and use this Wix site.
